Rode my mare in spurs this morning - I don't use them as a rule and have never before needed them on any of my horses (tend to go for the forward going type
)
Anyway, been having trouble getting my workshy mare off my leg (to the point of having to boot her pony-club style). So borrowed a mate's spurs and what a difference! Mostly in the canter - I got a very forward bouncy upright canter from her hindquarters, which feels like I could jump the moon from. Hardly had to use my leg at all.
This is fantastic
but I am worried that she will 'get used' to the spurs and become really dead to the leg. Any experience of this?
She is a WB, imported form holland this yr - from her reaction I suspect she is used to spurs.
