So ive had my new neddy oreo since july now.. she's in a field with my other older horse domino and one other mare and gelding.. now she isnt what id class as very marish in the field.. dosent get grumpy or fight with the other mare etc etc ..

However i have noticed that when i have her out fo the field and tied up she's a nightmare wants to talk to EVERYTHING!! out stables are fairly close to one another and when other horses are in theres noses touch and she squeels for england.. so much so she stood on the spot and broncked at the small pony in the stable next to hers the other day.. to watch was quite amusing as one minute she's grooming them next she just stands and squeels is this normal.. ive been told a lot of young horses are like this while there still babyish.. she's only 3.1/2.. is it something she'll grow out of or is it just been mareish.. she even does it with my older horse who shes in the field with walks in and out with fine etc..

any ideas why i have a screemer!!! :) xxx

No idea why you have a screamer, but to further spoil your day ;-) at our yard are two small ponies aged 19 and 27, they squeal like there's no tomorrow. So yes, yours might grow out of it but there is always the possibility she will still be at it in 24 years time!!!!!

Some mares just like the sound of their own voice :D
My mare can't touch noses or sometimes even look at another horse without squealing. I tend to avoid tying her up where she can touch another horse because once or twice she has squealed, lashed out with her front legs (yeah, she also can't squeal with stomping her feet!), pulled back and the scared herself silly. Now we just keep a sensible distance!
Oh, and she's 18, which might not be too encouraging for you :D

so sounds like ive got myself a good old screamer.. what a pansy.. i think she does like the sound of her own voice shouts and screams when in wagon aswell.. then again i shout and scream at her telling her to get a grip and shut up like owner like donkey i guess.. Note to self tie up 5miles away from any surrounding living creatures..

couldnt believe it whens she stood on spot and bronked.. i had to laugh as looked so comical she's 16.2/3 and the pony she was squeeling at is about 11hands.... xxxx

Our 28 yr old mare squeals for England! so do the 2 mares in the field up the road (I believe they're both over 10). But then I ride one that grew out of it as she got older
I'm not holding out much hope for my youngster, she's 2 1/2, squeals a bit.

Our old shetland chases the big boys around the field squealing at them if they dare to get in her path, I find it funny but often have people asking if shes alright lol

So you never know! :)

My girl's extremely vocal - she whinnies non-stop when she wants something - it's nearly one continuous whinny! She is also a squeally type and even gives little squeals sometimes if you tell her off when riding or lunging! She's coming up to 11 now so I'm afraid yours may not grow out of it!

My girls 4 and is a bit vocal but not bad really. When I'm getting her food ready she constantly whickers and neighs until she gets it, if other horses neigh she'll join in. She has a very high pitched neigh so you're always in danger of being deafened if standing near her at the time she screams. She touches noses fine though, it's normally the other horse squealing at her for being too in their face lol.

My squealy mare calmed down to wuffles, nickers, low whinnies and rumbles, I love hearing it

The gelding makes a ridiculous high pitched screamy noise when he sees me

The noise might not abate as she gets older but her behaviour will probably get better

Mares! Lol. Atleast you don't have a 'talker', mine makes sounds from mooing, to boiling kettle, to that similar of a chainsaw. This can be for any reason, to greet you, to tell you she's happy/sad/angry/fed up. She just likes to talk, escpecially when you are having a conversation, or on the phone :D It's also much more satisfying to her when it's RIGHT in your face.....

My one mare roars rather than squeals, it sounds like a dinosaur, she's only 11hh!!

People must think I have a zoo/circus ha.
