Just waiting for the vet to come and see Dooney who's developed squirty poo and lost weight overnight.

Not sure why I am posting this. Guess I feel the need to have a moan about it.

Dunno what has caused it. I haven't changed his feed or anything. He's not near the road so it's unlikely that anyone has fed him something that doesn't agree with him. The other horses are all fine.

Anyone got any ideas? A big slab of cake if your diagnosis matches the vet's!!

It shouldn't be. They were all wormed for tapeworm back in November.

Dooney has always been sickly. He was a rescue case. Always had a big belly that the vet has put down to be weaned too early and fed the wrong stuff.

My little one gets runny poo when she gets a wee chill from the weather (shes a sensitive soul!)

A couple of days kept in munching hay with her jammies on and a warm feed usually sorts her out!

Hope everything goes fine with the vet though.

Upset hind gut from excess sugars in grass (colder weather could lead to this) hay or hayalge? This is my first thought with any of mine.

Sorry to hear about your horse. My section A has always been prone to this. Any changes, especially wet grass, going out in the lorry etc. I put him on Happy Tummy (http://www.finefettlefeed.com/?page_id=260) back in the Autumn and he's been so much better since then. And very grateful I am too as he is a grey with a long and thick tail which was constantly filthy! Hope your chap gets better soon. x

Thanks all.

Vet says it could be anything. She took some blood, gave me some antibiotics and electrolyte powder and wants me to ring her on Monday to let her know how he is progressing.
