I'm currently in the market for some stabilising fibre for my sand schools, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of Emerald Trading Waste Solutions Ltd? Basically, as they are soo much cheaper, I'm wondering if they are kosher? I've checked companies house and environment agency which checks out, but as my Dad used to tell me, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is!
There were a few other alarm bells, such as name dropping a big local name but then when I said I knew them, they fessed that they were only in discussions with them and they hadn't placed an order. Plus other slight pressure selling techniques like if you need it by x date we need the order today etc... but they are all guilty of a bit of that. Then finally the sample was sent was later than expected (by a day or two) and when it arrived was 'used' ie had come out of someone's sand school. All the other samples have been fresh off the production line.
Anyway the saving is not insignificant and their explanation is that they are the manufacturers so effectively this is a wholesale price, which fits with a waste management company. And he was aware and up front about being so much cheaper than the rest of the market. Also ironically I was slightly reassured when he said he couldn't guarantee the drainage as I didn't know what grade of sand I had as this was already done when we purchased (so he wasn't offering a miracle all purpose fixit) and we don't have drainage issues anyway....so I'm thinking if I order on my credit card, I'll be protected if it's a scam right?
