Hello i have a 1yr old colt i currently keep him out in feild with mares which he is not intrested in, in the slightest if any think he stays away from them as they tend to bully him he is abit soppy!! He is very well behaved has never bit or kick very friendly my 4 children run around him and he isnt bothered he loves the attention and a cuddle. I would like to move him from his current location to either a stable and a feild to graze or to graze full time but am finding this tricky as not many people are happy to have colts around i do plan on getting him gleded at some point depending on his behaviour and where he is being kept and if possible for him to be in a feild on his own if he hasnt got a stable to go into. I live in walton on thames is surrey and wish to keep him as close to me as possible so if anyone knows of anywhere that will be happy to take him or someone with there own land could you please let me know i would be most grateful thanks 😆

Personally I wouldn't take a yearling colt - he might very well be cute and cuddly now but at any time he could develop testosterone and become coltish and pester the mares, especially next year as they come into season. You might have more success if you have him cut at the very first opportunity. I would imagine a lot of land owners would feel the same way, unless you can find a cattle or sheep farm with no horses who might take him

Hi thanks for the replys.
I understand what your both saying and concerns i would be happy to stable him as soon as and if he becomes a problem as when your horse and self are around other pepole and horse then id have to take on board everyones feelings i should think id get him done befor the summer so to avoid him upsetting the mares that could be around also i wouldnt want him to get frustrated as that could lead to bad behaviour. So anyone that could offer a place for him id be happy to discuss what would be best for everyone and the horses and get him sone befor the summer or earlier if problems arise.
