Failing miserably to keep a stable bandage on my box rest pony - she is awaiting splint bone fracture surgery and in 24/7 on shavings. She has a huge pressure bandage on her injured leg (hind) so was bandaging the opposite hind for support (was always taught you should do this?)
She is kicking out all the time trying to get the pressure bandage off and is wrecking stable bandage in process, it ends up halfways down her leg and full of shavings on the inside. As I can't take her out of her box trying to reapply a bandage once covered on shavings is proving a challenge as they are getting absolutely everywhere (she rolls a lot) and within a few hours she's dislodged it.
Left it off this morning as ran out of time before work and she was trying to kick me in the head (not in nastiness but I think the injured leg is very itchy as was clipped for surgery then surgery abandoned due to allergic reaction - long story).
Opinions wanted - is it necessary to bandage (she is fully weightbearing on injured leg)? They hadn't at the vets but always thought it was a necessity? If yes, how the hell do I keep it on and keep the shavings out?
Exasperated with fybergee and banadages plastered in shavings
