Stable boots - yeah or neigh..?

Due to my old boy having arthritis, he would scrape his fetlock joints at the front when getting up from rolling, no matter how thick I put his bed he would just paw it out of the way before he rolled. So now he has stable boots on the front and he doesn't damage himself now. I also find they stop his legs from swelling and I am tempted to get some for his back legs as well. They weren't cheap though but I like the fact that the ones I have got are done up really loosely and they still stay in place

I have also used them on an arthritic pony in the past and they helped her legs from swelling when she had to come in at night as well as drying them off if they were wet or I had hosed them off. I use the PE ones and often use them for travelling too, especially if we've been out xc or something and she's been washed off.
 
Thermatex legs wraps - yes, they are brilliant.
Have 22 yr old arthritic horse and these are fab- especially for wet and cold legs as help them dry.
Would highly recommend :)
 
Had some coolex ones I used to use if I had washed muddy legs the night before a competition in winter, never been a fan of washing legs normally so didn't use them any other times but they were great on those occasions. Obviously other people like them too as they went for a great price on eBay !
 
Like Foxy O, I have one with arthritic hocks who wears front stable boots to stop her scraping one of her fetlocks to bits when she gets up, even on a deep bed with rubber mats below. I'm not a huge fan of them, given the risk of overheating the legs, but it's better than her damaging herself.
