WOOOO it's finally here!! They delivered it a couple days ago and it's sitting by the muckheap on a pallet until my step-dad and boyfriend install it on Sunday.

Just a quick post to see if anyone has installed it and if you found any problems in fitting it? Or using it?

And is there anyone who uses bare minimum bedding on it and what do you use? Like I said before, no way in hell am I spending £400 on mats to save me time and money, only to have to lay a full bed on top lol!

Stable comfort matting - is that the really padded matting that is practically a matress for the horse? If so, I'd love to know how you geton with it as I've been toying with the idea of getting some.

I use Field Guard stable mats the M2 type cost me £550, I find these brill as great for drainage and their thermal, I never use limited bedding on mine, i like a good comfy deep bed for my horse...

I've had it down for 5 years and love it but you need to open it up and let it lose its creases before laying it.
I use shredded paper on it but still use quite alot to soak up wee but shavings would be better ,I think.
We laid ours and it was straight forward, try to use some loose shreds to make it drain to the door.

Is it stable comfort or horse comfort? www.horse-comfort.com? If its those i have the 34mm EVA mats down in my boxes (oldest now 8 years old) and cannot recomend them highly enough. Second the make sure they are flat before you lay them and don't pack them in too tight as they have no-where to expand when the horse stands on them!

They are infinitely superior to the heavy rubber, they insulate well and the cushioning is second to none. I use about 2 bales of shavings a week between 4 horses, all with immaculate beds about4 inches thick! I am in aberdeenshire should you get stuck fitting them (obviously only if they are actually the horse comfort ones!)

Hi guys sorry for the late reply. Finally installed the mats and they're great! So soft and comfy looking!

Only thing at the moment is trying to find a good amount of bedding to use - too little and his bed stinks and is filthy, too much and I'm wasting my time buying mats in the first place! At the moment we seem to be coping with about 1/5 of a bed at the back (about 1 bale) and thats coping pretty well right now.

Will keep you updated but I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who's considering matting - I'd never buy the mats that come in sheets as he is terrible for walking about in his bed and has been known to kick them up at the corners and get all kinds of mess underneath them lol!
