i keep my horse in a yard i moved my horse to a friends as i had to have a op and layed up for 6 weeks the yard sent me a bill for stable and grass let is this comen or are they try to pull a fast one i can under stand a fee to keep stable open for when i take my horse back but grass let as no horse no grass is this right

I think it is normal-
Whenever mine are away in one case, for four months at stud, I ahve paid my normal DIY rental. Fiding an replacement for 6 weeks is not easy, for stable or for grazing without stable, and rates and maintainance still have to be paid.

The YO will bill you for the stable & grazing wether you are there or not & rightly so. It is available for your use, it is your decision not to be there & they are keeping it available for you. They could rent it out to someone else to earn money & then you'd have nowhere to return to. They shouldn't lose money due to your decision to temporarily move. I rented a stable & grazing before I bought one of my horses to ensure I had the place I wanted when I actually found him. Fortunately within a few weeks I bought the horse & took him to the waiting stable.
