I have 2 horses, in at night from about 6.30pm til 7am. One is on straw as she is a bit of a messy moo, and quite wet, and I can't afford shavings at the rate she would go through them....also find straw quicker to muck out! Other one is on shavings. Both have rubber mats but not the super thick ones.
At the moment I lift both beds in the morning, taking out the wet and poop, and sweep all the little bits out, leaving the beds up til I come back in the evening.
However I have noticed that both horses (helpfully) seem to wee just before I get there, so floor is still a bit damp once I have lifted bed. Obviously I sweep away what I can, and it dries during the day, but have noticed that there is a bit of a smell of wee still hanging around by the evening. I don't particularly want to be throwing bucketfuls of disinfectant around as stable floor is flat so it would pool in the middle I think, but I seem to remember somewhere seeing a powder or concentrate or something you could sprinkle down to make it smell nicer?
The mats are well fitted and I have had a good look underneath and there aren't any stinky shavings caught underneath or anything - so would appreciate any suggestions!

I did have some green gloop but tended to use that once a month or so - lift the bed into one corner and scrub rest of floor down. Will prob do that again this year but the equidry sounds good for an everyday solution - many thanks!

We put a thin layer of shavings on top of our rubber matting to soak up any wee and then have a full straw bed on top of that.

We fully muck out each day, sprinkle Equi San Dry down where the wet patches were then re-lay the bed. Never get any nasty niffs.
