Stable diy - what colour?

So my lovely stables have done their job for the last 5 years, however a leaking roof means I’m having it all redone with a pitched roof. I didn’t pay much for these stables so I’m looking to do some diy to make them a bit smarter to go with their new roof which is being done in the next few weeks!

Question is, what colour should I do them?!

I’m open to absolutely any colour suggestion, or just any cool things people have done to theirs just to make them a bit smarter. I have too much free time at the moment so a diy job should be fun!

Would love to see photos of everyone’s stables for inspiration?

I'd go for a preserving stain in a natural finish rather than any colour - as soon as you paint them, you'll have to keep painting them regularly as it will end up flaking and fading. You don't want to make a rod for your own back! You'll still have to apply a stain regularly but it won't be as noticeable when it starts to need doing again.

Amen to that!

Perfect thank you everyone for your advice! I’ve had a look and saw that protek does a natural colour stain which sounds perfect as hopefully it will make my stables go one colour because just to our diy we have different colour wood doors and soon will have a different roof colour?

I usually go for a dark oak which doesn’t look too bad as it fades. Insides are dark oak at the bottom and white above the kick boards.
