Stable Fire, Horley, Surrey

Thats not far from me at all - I actually remember hearing the fire engines - although I've not heard anything since. I can try and find out for you though, if you want?

Hi SophieLouise, many thanks that will be useful.

My sympathies really do go out to the owners as fires are devastating.

The report doesn't mention anything about people or the horses so I'm hoping that both are okay. Fires are the sort of thing that everyone hopes will never happens to them.

Sometimes it's diificult to get to the cause of fires but it is important. I can't think of anything else that can kill so many horses so quickly.

There are various causes; muck heaps, electrical faults, bales of hay instantaneously combusting and arson.

Anything we can learn from stable fires may help others. Last year in one month between the UK and US over 100 horses lost their lives as a result of stable fires.

Again my sympathies go to the proprietor/horse owners.
