Can I ask what anyone is currently using please. Despite sweeping properly and leaving bed up and having plenty of ventilation Alice's bedroom stinks. Years ago I remember using a powder but can't remember what it was called.

Thank you from a not so sweet smelling Adorable Alice.

I can't remember but I know you can get it at hyperdrug .
I use green gloop from field guard mix it in a bucket pour on brush around sweep out and leave to dry

Stalosan F is the powdered disinfectant I use, it is pink and I throw it everywhere when bed is up, any smell disappears quickly

Thank you, just ordered Stalosan on good old amazon. I can't bear the smell of jeyes, even dilute it makes me feel sick.

re the stalosan-its a very fine powder, if you are really slinging it about you might prefer to do it with a mask on, its an odd smell but not really unpleasant. one of the few thats undergone trialling for poultry/pig bedding and very good at neutralising smells.

Really? I love Jayes Fluid; it's my second favourite yard smell after creosote :D

Never bothered me and I liked creosote, until after all the chemo I had. Now it makes me feel sick as does the smell of frying sausages or steak !! Apparently chemo alters the smell/taste receptors. Bit of useless info for a Thursday morning !

I usually lift up the bedding, take the wet out and give the floor/matting a good scrub with diluted detol. I absolutely love the smell of it!

Diatomaceous earth.

Completely natural, safe if eaten.

It has a weird texture, feels a bit like talc, but is heavier. No fumes to worry about. You can either brush it up and dispose (on muck heap) or leave it down.

Virkon? That's a pink disinfectant powder . Not sure if it takes smells away, I imagine it would, but it's usually recommended/used by vets for stable and area disinfecting .

I don't mind Jeyes Fluid sometimes it can linger and makes you feel a bit ill after a while ! Love creosote , smells amazing . Don't mind zoflora but I'm sure I associate it with sick (sorry!) after someone at work used it to clean up that .... we also had a lady at the last yard who inisisted on disinfecting her stable every week with various scents of zoflora (especially festive scents at Christmas ), and I can't use them in the house now because I think it's smells like a stable ! Haha. Sorry totoally off tangent of the post there ....

while you're at it check under her bed and behind the chest of drawers for mouldy mugs and forgotten plates of toast and pasta. You might even find all the odd socks you've been missing for a while. ;)

Interesting, I used that for mites a while back, never thought it would have helped neutralize smells!

Ah now I have a big bucket of stuff I use sometimes. It's a bit like shake n vac! You sprinkle it on and it smells fresh but also absorbs the odour. Comes in original and citronella. Can't for the life of me think of the name. I could check when I get home but it sounds like you have other ideas above!
