How to you cope with a strong cob in the stable? He barged pass me the other day as I was trying to close the stable door. I've not had him long so we are probably in the early days of sussing each other out. To ride he is well mannered and well schooled. But what do you suggest I do once in the stable?

Thank you

After I first bought Libby we had a honeymoon period of about a month, she was a total sweetie. Then her stable manners totally changed, she would bite me, barge me, threaten to kick. I actually got to the point when I was afraid to go in her stable.

The answer to our problems was a monty roberts halter and a long rein. I put it on her whilst in the stable, if she tried to bite, kick, barge I would give a gentle tug on the rein, causing slight pressure. When she backed off I released it. After about 3 weeks of this we started working without the halter and Libby was a different horse. That was 18 months ago and she is perfect in the stable. :)
