Stable mats question about bubbling!!!

My mats have been down over 2 years and 2 of them next to each other have 'bubbled' or are trying to come up if you know what I mean. Its like theyve expanded and wont fit flat to the floor.
My boy is currently on box rest cross tied at the door so Ive been using my old bedding up bringing it to the place he is stood. This has meant there are know no shavings in about half of the stable. The area thats coming up is in this area. I never had a full bed before and its never been a problem anywhere else. Also this area is where he used to wee.
Any ideas, its really bugging me.

I'd just have a competent person slit the excess off with a Stanley knife if I was you. It will never go back to what it previously was.

Make sure you or whomever does it is VERY careful - I almost lost the tip of my finger when I did one of mine. Thankfully they were able to put it back together.

Thanks, why didnt I think of that?? I was jumping and stamping on it tonight much to the amusement of my horse. Ah well gave my poor bored boy some entertainment at least LOL.
