Hi, am looking at investing in some stable matting, I have found the following products on a site and wondered if anyone else used them and what they thought of them. I quite like the one priced at £25 a mat (looks more spongy and I like the locky things) what do you guys think?

Also please feel free to post any links to other sites that supply mats that you can reccomend.

Have you tried looking on ebay? There are a few companies that sell mats on there.
I decided to go for http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EASiFit-CHECK...407?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35ae02daff the more you have the cheaper, there is an offer on if you buy 30 mats.
The only reason really is that I have a bad back and they are easier to carry / lift.
I probably would of gone with Endurance mats but, I rang for a quote on over 50 mats, and they were very unhelpful.
I would be worried that the EVA mat would lift as they don't look as heavy as the other mats.
So i would choose the heavier mats in my opinion.

then second ones look like my mats.

They are equimats.
Ive had them a few years, really nice and spongy, very thick.
had no problems with them.

Cheers, do you find them very heavy? I was thinking along the same lines... they look noce and spongy etc, my girl box walks for a pass time... do they get scuffed easily/ are they as hard wearing? Also how do you find the Locking bits? Do you get much movement out of them?

Off to google equimats now :)

We have interlocking block type mats in one of the stables, the front layer of mats do move though and are a pain to keep in place. If we were to get any more, would definitely get the 6x4 size mats instead of the blocks :) The good thing about them is that they are really soft and thick and do drain well but very heavy to move.

I've got the interlocking EVA mats. They are 5 years old now and nowhere near needing replacing. I like them cos they are very easy to manoeuvre by one person, drain well and I find they stay in place. They do misshape a tiny bit over time but not enough to be a problem. I got mine from rubber manufacturing services.

Those Ebay mats are fantastic, easy to fit, dont move and have the best grip which is essential for my older arthritic cob whop couldnt get up on the EVA or bubbletop type mats..

Equimat's are the nicest mats going - They're expensive, but so good and so light compared to the big black mats! I'd happily sleep on them lol!!

would mats work on an uneven stable floor.

we dont own the stables but if i do put something in them id be worried because though they are really big, the floors are half concrete half earth and we wont be allowed to do anything with them???

Yep, I have ... not the cheapest but the best by far. I have some that are close to twenty years old which are in daily use, nowhere near wearing out, they'll probably go another twenty years.

As they are small, 0.5m x 1m, they are easy to lift for the annual wash and brush up (which is important to me as I have a dodgy back) They have locking plates that fit under the mats which hold them together, they do not move. They also have lots of little "legs" underneath which not only means that they drain well but also insulate the horse from cold striking up from the ground. I love my Fieldguard mats, wouldn't have anything else.
