Hi!

I've not needed stable mats before but the larger stable we are getting at the new yard has an uneven floor (not very nice :() so I definitely need to buy some mats.

There are so many different thicknesses to choose from - I'm leaning towards the 22mm/24mm + (depending on cost as well). I'm also wanting to get some EVA ones. Shipping to where I am is stupidly costly so I have a limit on the selection I can choose from :(

What thickness does everyone use and how good etc?

Thank you!! :)

If the stable has an uneven floor, then mats wont stop urine etc seeping under & pooling in the dips.
Best thing you can do is to get the floor screeded (thin layer of concrete/cement) to level it 1st.

I use the thick heavy ones as they suit my way of working & my animals :)

I bought 24mm mats for my mare - they are heavy and a pig to trim if you need to but they don't move, dent or anything else untoward...I bought 18mm mats for smaller lighter gelding..this was a mistake - easier to move and cut but weight of pony moves them and squashes em flatter so they can push up at joins causing tripping hazards.
