Does it matter what size you get? G is completely obsessed with the horse in the stable next door and has been rearing up to look over the partition and see if he is in there.

Hoping a stable mirror will help settle him down but does it have to be huge? They seem to start at about 50cm square which sounds plenty big enough to me.

We had a stable mirror, new horse freaked out and tried to jump through it and didn't see it as a wall, but an open space. He was ok though, just managed to get a few cuts, got away very lightly, never using mirrors again though

Thats interesting, might suggest smaller would be better then as he'd see it as more of a window rather than anything he could fit through.

Mine is about half a metre square. My old mare absolutely loved it. Nitty just ignores it. Never put anything in my stable and have it wig out at it!

we have a 1200x1200 one for William my 17.1 WBxTB.
Like Vetwrap says, it needs cleaning every week as he does love himself rather a lot. (well he is a handsome fella so i don't blame him)

i was worried about the positioning as the best place to mount it was next to where he normally gets fed and worried as he me see the reflection as a threat. But he hardly made any fuss at all the 1st time he was fed next to it.. some strange looks and after that he just got on with it.

However he is a very placid fellow in general and frankly kicking off would all be way too much effort for him.

Thanks for useful comments. I'm thinking I might put it on hs wall above the kick boards to keep him safe. Does that sound about right?
