Due to field poaching (long story) I have to stable my pony poss for several weeks !!Worried in case he get mud rash...
I have been offered a small stable in an old coaching house, looks roomy enough as pony only 13.2 - 13.3 ish.
(I am probably going to have to sell him, so hopefully short term)The height is around 7' ,is this high enough, I would like to invest in stable mat, but seems expensive for a short stabling.
Any suggestions where I could get mats (Scotland) also I notice most are sold to fit like carpets, whereas my local stables use them more like beds in one corner of the stable, what size would be recommended if used in this way ...also I am worried he might feel restricted as he has been out full time up to now , help, suggestions???
Sorry so many questions , but at wits end about it all

I wouldn't say the height is ideal and your pony might feel a bit claustrophobic to be honest, but if its the only stable you can get then it'll have to do, has it got good lighting and ventilation? I don't know about Scotland but for my 12 by 12 stable I bought 6 mats, I think thats the standard sort of price. They're nice to have but if you don't want to spend too much money (mine cost me about £250) then a nice deep straw bed is fine.
Just try to make the stable a nice place for your horse, plenty of hay and maybe some stable mirrors if he can't see any other horses where he is.

I put 2 mats (6' x 4') each at the front of standard size stable and deep chopped straw bed on the rest of the floor, works nicely.
7' height is not too bad as long as there is enough light and ventilation.
