Routine helped mine relax. Knowing he’s getting breakfast lunch and dinner haynets daily kept him relaxed, he would go for a sleep in between.
Also various toys and a mirror. And when you’re up interact with them as much as you can, a good groom helps. If they can, a hay block hung in the middle of the stable can keep them entertained too. Also apples in the water bucket if they’re not the type to kick it over in frustration!
