I got mine from Wynnstay stores, I would recommend getting thicker rather than thinner ones they move less in my opinion and bobble top with slotted underneath seem to work well. Just my opinion and experience.
I have got EVA matting. I've had it for nearly 10 years; it's a bit scuffed by road nails, and worn thin where the scraper scrapes, but basically sound. I love it that it's light enough to lift and carry all by my puny self, unlike proper rubber mats
just been reading some horror stories about people buying the wrong matting !! what sort of price ball park should I be looking for for 1 x matt? I am always suspicious of deals that look to good to be true !!!
I have a heavy breed draught horse so really do want to get this right ...... and can't afford to get it wrong and swallow any costs that might occurr
We bought 6ft x 4ft 22mm thick mats (bobble one side/ grooved the other side) for £38 each brand new. Please be careful if buying off ebay as we had a friend who bought some and to quote my late grandmother ' you could shoot peas through it'. They were very thin and had been advertised as 'lightweight stable mats' it looked as if they would have been better as wall lining in a stable. I believe that mats for cattle are very hardwearing.
My advice would be to look at mats in other people's stables to see what people are using and ask them what they think - and then look in your local tackshop - they may be more expensive but short term pain for long term gain. Well looked after, and well fitted mats can save a fortune in bedding. HOWEVER if your horse is very wet and the mats and floor do not allow for drainage then be prepared for a very stinky and messy cleanout.
I like the Black Mat company Mats. The bobbles are perfect! Easy to sweep but keep their non slipperiness long term.
I bought some from Countrywide and after a few weeks the bobbles started coming off and they became lethally slippery when wet.
