Hi guys I am looking at buying a heavy weight stable rug ready for the winter I knows it's august but just dropped my rugs off to be washed and my 6 year old warmblood seems to have filled out/grown and now needs 7'!! Anyway I am looking at either the mark Todd ultimate rhino heavy combo or wetherbetta Belmont combo. But was wondering about the fit and weather or not any off them are particularly bad for rubbing mains? Any experiences would be great. Just can't decide which one to get. Thanks

I just bought the horseware Rhino and rambo stable rugs for my little guy (welsh cob x). Horseware are a great fit on him and so far nothing has rubbed.

Good luck x

my big WB mare has the weatherbeeta 300 combo (the older version of the belmont i think) and it fits her fantastic - shes also a 7ft and its a good fit on her shoulders etc, never rubs and keeps her toasty warm when fully clipped

another vote for horseware, i have a variety of their rugs for my boy (welsh cob) and nothing has rubbed him and they seem to fit very well.

I am also looking for a new HW stable combo for my new boy as my last mare's Weatherbeeta belmont combo is too big for him. I do like it and think I might have to go for another one due to it being affordable. If I had the money I might try the Rhino.

the rhino is cheap on cyber checkout

bru has the belmont combo and it fits really well, no rubbing.

star has the combo stable rug from Horze.co.uk, its the burgundy one. its got this fab bib type shape at the front to cover up the usual gap between neck over and rug-i LOVE it and cant reccomend it enough, has elasticated surcingles and is tough, smart and super warm.

it doesn,t matter how much a rug costs, sizes vary so much ..i have a weatherbeta stable rug which fits lovely so i bought a weatherbeta outdoor combo which was too tight on his shoulder,s!! you can always buy or even make a bib to put on under the horses rug and it does stop rubbing,i have different makes of rugs n all r gr8 and he,s warm x

One of my boys has a fabulous Weatherbeeta stable rug with a neck. Unfortunately I can't remember what the style is called, but it's a purple/blue chequered one, 6'9". It has never caused him any rubs, and he is totally toasty in the mornings after wearing it even on the coldest of nights.

Hope you find the right one for your horse!

Thanks, really tempted for the Rhino as i have always loved Horseware rugs just a bit concerned as there sizes always seem a bit on the small side! Anyone got any experience of the mark todd ultimate?

I had the ultimate and the neck cover for it, for my last horse and it was fab, she was a clean horse anyway so no lying in poo but still washed up like new 7 years later. The filling didnt disappear over the years either like some rugs. Well worth the money.
Im looking to get another for my new one but i might get a JHL one instead as they are basicly the same rug but abit cheaper.
