MIL is going to buy me one for Xmas - but I need to choose it. Any recommendations? I was thinking along the lines of a traditional painted timber one, maybe with a portrait, but open to suggestions!

I couldn't find anything pre-made I liked, so I had mine made by a signmaker with a personalised font etc

I really like the small brass plaques. They look really smart.

My OH got me a 'tags for nags' wooden sign when I got my first horse. Had his name with a horse cantering next to is. And underneath was 'Ridden by E. Rose' (me lol). It was so sweet as it was a surprise, but I hated it lol really cringe-worthy.

I put it up anyway, but slyly picked off the 'Ridden by...' part. It was just stickers which were varnished over and other parts of it started to curl up in the end.

B doesn't have one, but if I were to get one, it would be a little brass plaque.

Have just bought one as a present from poppins…plaques on ebay and I am impressed!
Has a photo of the pony and his name they have done a great job of blending the sign and adjusted the photo for me. Great quality too, my boys is wood with his name carved out and his shoes either side. Present late year from lovely OH!

I have ordered custom ones of my horses and my daughter's pony, both for our Xmas from MiL, on the e-bay link that Welsh D sent, that includes a portrait. Thought that it would be a nice keepsake for both of us, particularly as my daughter's pony will be outgrown all too quickly. Thanks - lots of other lovely ones posted as well, particularly liked equisign as well.

Here is mine. What I would say is do give it a yearly coat of varnish if your stables are at all exposed to the weather
