Stable Size for foaling

having to build stables, limited area, but area across in 32 ft, so split into 2 would be 15ft, length could be a bit more, if needed. so what would be the best, go for 15 x 15, or 15 x more... mares are due approx a month apart, but you never know with pesky mares

what size would be best ?

15 x 15 should be fine - unless you are breeding shire horses!

I foaled down in a box this size and mare and foal shared the box at night until the foal was 6 months old

Our 15.3Tb mare was in a normal stable 12x12, long story. But she managed fine, trust me a mare will jam up against any wall what ever the size of stable. Normally we have them in a barn and they never have them in the middle. But without putting the fear of G into you 15x15 is a good size. Good luck and keep us posted.

You're not wrong!! Whether it's 10x12 or 14x16 or 15x15 - you can BET she'll have her a*se firmly up the back corner leaving you a space less than 1' square to work in!

15' x 15' is big, they'll be lovely stables, but i agree with the above, they like shoving their baby out into a corner!

yep mine was born in the doorway this year !!! mine are in 12x14 and hav e always been fine !

the vet said as long as they have enough room to get up and down they will be fine !!
