Hi.

I am trying to register on stable to stable forum to get some advice, but says it is disabled? Does anyone know why?

I am moving to south Tipperary in September, horses in tow and need some advice on where to buy haylage, types of bedding and most importantly a decent farrier who hot shoes. Any suggestions welcome as a bit of a mine field. I have looked on done deal for haylage, but most seems to be sold in small bags for racing, so will be an expensive way of doing it. Is haylage not very popular, as most seems to be hay for sale?

Any advice of where to look would be great. :)

Thanks.

For some reason they arent letting new people register - don't know why!

Try the Equestrian section of Boards.ie - friendly bunch!

Thanks showpony. Always difficult trying to get sorted in another country, especially when they don't have products that you are used to. Will try board.ie :)

:DHi Sare Bare

Hope you enjoy your move to Tipperary and that it wont be too stressful. If I was travelling to a competition I might buy a small bag of haylage as it would be wrapped and therefore fresh. But to use at home you can buy from local farmers. If you have sorted your accommodation out then I suggest visiting a nearby farmer. He will be able to tell you who sells haylage, large or small bales, hay, stray etc. You will find out more by word of mouth than any computer :D Good luck

Thanks Dowjones. If you are able to pm me name and number of the farrier that would be great. :) My farrier I will really miss!

Thanks Seagull, I will inquire at some farms. Just want to make sure it is made well and is 100% ragwort and weed free. A local farmer did warn me, best to buy hay as haylage can be made badly, but have a 2 horses with RAO, that cough on hay, even when soaked. I think it will just take time to get sorted. If it wasn't so heavy I would bring some bales with me to get me started.
