I'm liking the swede idea - do you core it?
I was hoping he'd get used to his football but he hates it so maybe I can persuade him if there's food involved :p

no dont core it just stab a hole through and tie it up :) I also like apples in the water bucket - can get messy though! We have a ball with string round it and I can poke bits of apple and carrot in it ... I don't know where its from, its ancient! I found it after my previous thread about stable toys and its ace!!

I used to hide treats like apples and carrots around Rosie's stable when she was on boxrest, she'd spend ages finding them!! (Shes a bit of a thicky) Horsey hide and seek! Also recommend the swede, but Rose managed to eat it in about 2 minutes!

It gave Rosie the runs though the next day so just be aware! (nice i know!!)

that sound like a great idea - my dad plays find the carrot with him but I won't tell you where the carrot is  :D

I like the idea of hanging various veggies from the ceiling :p

Just a snack ball - I keep well clear of things like likits for the sheer amount of molasses in them. He has a natural mineral/salt lick on string too, if that counts as a toy?!

Snack ball best toy ive ever bought. Charlie comes in to his stable every day and goes straight to his ball to see if it has been filled. Have tried normal ball, never moved, likits were ignored. However, he loves his salt lick.

hmm.. maybe as a one-off treat then.
he's not sugar intolerant so it shouldn't cause any issues.
I feel sorry for the poor boy because our fields are water logged and he can't get out for very long. I've been trying to put him out in the indoor school so he can at least stretch his legs

stupid phone..
if he's in his stable then I want him to have something to keep him occupied.
I'm considering getting a stable mirror but would have to check with my YO :)

I have a snak ball and just put a small scoop of high fibre cubes in. Both of mine seem to love it. I only give it to them when they have to spend all or most of the day inside due to wet weather though - mainly because I don't want them to become bored of it because they have it every day. They both have permanent salt licks in their stables. i don't like a lot of treats because of the amount of molasses they have in them.

Ours has a decahedron with high fibre cubes in it and he loves it and looks for it every evening. I hide a Tic Tac mint in with the cubes sometimes as a special treat. Despite being kicked against the wall every night, the first one lasted a year and the second is doing even better. I'd definitely recommend them.
