I'm off to Broomies in 3 weeks and am not sure if excited or terrified yet!lol

Does anyone know the score regarding bedding there - is there straw in there as the norm or do you take your own etc? My mare has to be kept on shavings, mainly as she eats everything else and also she's prone to dust allergies. Also, do you think it would be best to forewarn them that I have to soak my hay over night/the day in a dustbin so that they may put my stable closer to a drain? Don't want to annoy them before I even get there!
Made my list of things to take - rather a long list already!

You aren't allowed to use straw at Cricklands - only shavings. The stables usually have a bit in them, but you will need to top it up. You have to supply your own bedding.

There are no drains....

Just take loads of duvets and blankets as it gets so cold at night.

That's good news in some respect - thanks, one less thing she can eat!

Not sure what I'm going to do about her hay though as she can't have dry hay or hayalage under any circumstance. May have to ring them me finks...

Hoping for half decent weather else I will be climbing in to the car to sleep!

The stable I had in September was deep littered with shavings, so I only used half a bale of shaving in 3 days. I'm not sure if all the stables are deep littered but the ones I saw were. It may be worth giving them a ring to check

They won't mind you soaking her hay. There are taps in the lorry park so you could soak it by your lorry and tip the water out on the grass.

the stables normally end up a giant puddle around all the taps - so wellys of some sort are a good idea as well.
