Hi, I have just had my renewal through for stables and field insurance and it is £330!!!!! This is more than my house insurance. I only have 5 stables, hay barn and tack room and land. No tack or machinery insured on policy! Can anyone recommend and insurance companies who are a bit more affordable? I did enquire with NFU but they wouldn't insure it as I don't live on there. Thanks.

I'd just like to know who you got to insure it in the first place. I couldn't find anyone interested as, like you, I don't live on there.

Company called Clivertons. They have been very good with sorting it out but I have never had to claim off them so can't vouch for that side. Just wish it was a better price as it seems very expensive.

Just found another company called Kensingtons (insurance4stables.co.uk) who provide cover as well. There rough quote came in a bit cheaper.

My stables are insured on my house insurance although they are about 5 minutes walk from my house. It's worth checking with your house insurance.

You could try SEIB. I used them when I had a yard seperately from home of a similar size to yours. I found them to be reasonably priced and helpful to deal with although thankfully never had to make a claim

Ah I was going to say try Lycetts but they are Clivertons! Can you not put your house on the same policy? Clivertons are only a broker so they must have sort the cover through a larger insurer. Have you asked them if it is possible to combine the house/contents cover with the stables and land on a 'estate' policy? I am going to try do this for my parents via Lycetts as i work for the insurer who provides the estate policies (I can't go direct though as we don't deal direct). I was told i can do it though in theory and the house is not at the same place as the stables - it is in the same village though.
