Hello, I have a health related problem and wondered if anyone else experiences the same thing.

At the moment I don't have much time to go riding but in the past I've had horses on loan. The trouble is that when I spend 3 or more days a week at the stables I develop a really strong dry cough due to the spores and dust etc, and it doesn't go away. My doctor has said it's due to my asthma and to take a prevention inhaler twice a day and I have a relief inhaler but this doesn't actually stop it.

Asthma is common so I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if they have any suggestions to stop the coughing? I find it so infuriating that something I love doing is being compromised by my sodding weak chest :(

Thanks for reading!

poss what we call Farmers lung ? try wearing a mask (one of those plastic jobbies from DIY store) I have been coughing like mad due to dusty hay and have been using one, it does help

Change from straw (if that's what you're on) to shavings, or preferably paper, which has fewer allergens.

Thanks :) It's horrible - I'll try those next time I spend a lot of time at the stables. I thought it might be a farmers lung type thing but I put "stables lung" since I'm not a farmer :) I hate mucking out straw so I'd definitely prefer using shavings.
