Please give me ideas how to snazz these old relics up - Potentially need them for 3 large TBs. (Who are used to living in serious luxury, in an American Barn with boxes 16x20ft so pretty huge) we are moving house, and these "could" (never know with sales) be our new yard....

& for the experts out there rough costing too?

Difficult to see what they need really. Are the roofs OK (beams and covering)? Are the doors sound? Are the floors acceptable to you? Is it the three wooden fronted ones on the left or the building at the bottom too? Do you want the yard resurfaced? Are you DIYing or getting professionals in? If you get the place I would get some people in to give you quotes (possibly different people for the different jobs, then you can prioritise the work order). Sorry I can't be more helpful with costs but I'm in Euroland and we do everything ourselves (including building our stables!)

I must say they will be lovely when you get them done and the horses won't be comparing them to their last place! Hope the purchase goes OK.

They are sound on the front on the whole, (the 3 stables on left are prob 10 yrs old or more) but the backs are really ramshackle so as the stables are only 12x wide each, was thinking breeze block the back half, and the front brick-work for the feed room.
We would need to breeze block a secure tack room, the right hand side is sound concrete the left is not - (not done concreting before I take it thats not a DIY job??), its all been very well loved in the past but has been totally un-kempt for 7+ years so needs work, fortunatley the grazing has been let to sheep farmers who have kept it immaculate.
Happy to give DIYing ago but would rather get it right than bodge through.. We re-timber clad our barn ourselves which was a big job and ive a feeling Dad may not want to do it again. . .

Have you got a bigger photo? Or different ones?
Your horses won't care that it's not a posh american barn - they'll be just pleased that you're looking after them!
