The man who lives opposite our horses field rang today to see if we knew anyone who has lost a staffordshire bull terrier. We dont, but the lady who rides our horse has taken him home until his owner can be found.
The dog is a mature male wearing a leather collar with a name tag, unfortunatly the phone number must be an old one. We think its a Sutton Coldfield number, anyone in that area? The dog got off the lead rope he was attatched to and chased our horses, he was growling and trying to get at them once he had been caught, but seems ok with people.
The lady who has him is going to ring the police to see if he has been reported missing/stolen, and we will ring round some of the kennels. Need to find his owner (who will need to know the name on his tag to get him back) as my friend cant keep him for long. Anyone seen a missing poster for a staffie?

Unfortunately there always seem to be a lot of missing staffies. I would suggest your friend contacts dog wardens rather than the police. Also itmight be worth seeing if she can get the local radio stations to give it a mention. Its a good idea to keep the dogs name a secret, there are lots of the wrong sort of people looking for staffies. Good luck, hope his owner turns up.

Great ideas, his details have just been sent to dog lost site and will ring the dog wardens. Try the radio stations. Yes there are alot of the wrong sort looking for staffies and the west midlands is a hotspot for dog fighting! Hence they will need to know his rather unusual name.

The owner has now been found, and im not a happy bunny because they live near our horses field. The dog chased the horses last night and was still snarling and trying to get at them even when he was caught. What if he gets loose again? One of our horses is 24yrs and limited sight a dog like that chasing him could be a disaster! Theres a young girl who rides our pony, what if the dog chases them? Ive seen what those dogs can do to a horse, my mother in laws horse was almost killed by one. The damage it did was horrific and it was big horse 16.2. IM NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!

I would pay them a visit and express your concerns....inform them that you saw what the dog was like when running loose in its agression towards the horses....ask them to PLEASE take extra care to make sure that it can not get loose again....I would also be a little concerned

I would also inform the police of its behaviour and tell them your fears.....just incase something does happen in future.

If you see it again, catch it and take it straight to the dog warden where the owners will have to pay a release fee to get it back......that will make sure they keep it under control

2 staffys were shot in the field at the back of my house while they were chasing the cows, despite the farmer giving the owner 2 previous warnings. Some people just don't give a s***!

We, or the people who looked after him overnight did say to the owners that the dog had chased the horses and he was agressive with them, the owners said "oh he doesnt like cows either" not we will keep him shut in or anything like that, some people shouldnt have dogs, but these staffies need people who can train them and take resonsibility for them, they can do so much damage.
Def WILL give him to the dog warden next time. I really hope there ISNT a next time!
