Google is evil, have just googled the average weight for a staffie and its come out at 17kgs on pretty much every website. On friday when poochie went for his booster at the vet i got them to weigh him and he came in at 21.5kgs! Breaks my blooming legs when he sits on my lap. Anyway he doesnt have an ounce of body fat, he's solid muscle. He has a waist, you can feel his ribs without trying and everything is defined. His neck is bigger than his head, though that is huge. He doesnt over eat, you can leave a dish full of food for him and he will just pick at it through the day, if he's not hungry he wont eat for the sake of it. Never bolts his food and only very occasionally has what we have as a treat. So is my dog normal? The vet wasnt worried and i'm not as he's fit and healthy but do i have an abnormally large dog? btw his dad was as wide as he was long and again built like the proverbial brick house...!

Average weights are just a guide and an average will have dogs on either side. Condition scoring is far more accurate and is a better judge of what to feed than the guides on dog food packet as well.

Of all breeds staffis must come in the most varied size from tiny to medium to huge
