Well Bud’s first time out since end of April after going lame….i was a little apprehensive as no idea how he would react/behave…… I need not have worried.

After getting up at 4.30am to plait up and clean up stains (don’t you love greys) we arrived 7.30, got studded up and went over to dressage 8ish – leaving 20 mins for warm up – at the same event early this year I allowed an hour as he’s usually so naughty, it seems Bud has grown up, he warmed in lovely and went and did a spanking test just screwed up last turn onto centreline and halt lost good 2 marks but it felt best he’s done I was so pleased didn’t care about mark.

On to SJ – I was so nervous, silly as he’s so capable but first time on grass for months and was a bit up and down with few dog legs – he was rather full of himself and very difficult and jumping out his skin showing off, somehow he just touched planks and they came off – SO annoyed mum said he didn’t just come up level in front but he hardly touched them and later in day as wind kept blowing them off they taped the cups to stop the slipping off cups

. If I was critical I might have been smidge close but he should really have picked up….

XC next feeling fine as course seemed very straight forward and on small side – but he has only been xc schooling once since April so knew I’d have to keep my whit’s about me….. he almost exploded going over to start box was so funny, he def new what it was all about….. off he flew and sailed round, I didn’t push him and mum thought I’d gone too slow but turned out was just right, just inside time. He jumped everything lovely a bit cocky into smaller ones where I had to give him a pull to slow up but otherwise he was golden.

I then find out I got 32 in the dressage – so pleased his best ever score and was in the placings this was at 10.30….. then the wait…… many hours later prize giving was announced to be at 3 o’clock….. a long day.

We ended up 4th

(a little disappointed with prizes when you pay so much entry fees even winner only got thin rug) and of course the ‘would have’ without the planks I would have ended up 2nd.

So very pleasing, long, day. I love my boy – we have not had much luck and I just pray we can keep him sound for many more seasons!! Oasby next where I hope we can crack a double clear!! I poulticed his legs, left them over night and washed them off this morning and all seem fine, he’ll now have quite couple days before being a ‘model’ for work on Wednesday – he’s so multitalented!!!!

Thanks for reading x

Well done, sounds like you had a fab day. Good luck at Oasby, I too am still trying for that elusive double clear, 4 faults is my speciality!!!

Thank you - it did take quite a few washes to get him clean!!

Did you see his new 'white' over reach boots - what a silly colour! but as they were through work i can't complain not sure how i'll quite them prestine!!
