Tom.faggus u must have a very sad life, you just seem so unbelievably desperate for an arguement. I have only visited this forum about 5 times and ive already noticed it.

And dapplegreypony, you just seem so unbelievably dull. I have only read a few of your meaningless posts and I have already noticed it.

Thank you !

It may be sad to you but I have a great life!

School, Rugby, War, Whorehouses in far flung parts, Wife, Kids, Farming, Hunting.

I have had great fun.

Tell me, how can you agree with fox hunting but not deer?

Especially when the national park thinks that to stop hunting would put the entire herd at risk of extinction !!!

Don't you care about Engkish wildlife?

I don't agree with any hunting. But then I'm not a sporting person, and am happy to potter around on a moor pony with a useless litter-runt doggie in tow.

However, seeing as you're a farmer, I immagine that the deer population somehow affect your work? In that case, I suppose it's okay for you to get rid of them as humanely as possible? (I still absolutely disagree with blood sports, and killing animals in general, but I'm just pointing out what seems to be common sense.)

Please excuse the awful spelling!

Mid,

I don't think T_F put that in the best possible way, it costs alot to farm, if you're a small(ish) farmer of about 400 acres, its still 400 acres to lime, fertilise, spray e.t.c and this is all very expensive, you need to get the best crop of grass for silage as winter store to feed whatever animals you farm, a herd of deer can do serious damage to silage fields so do need to be controlled.

Why are you against killing animals? Is it just pest control (fox and stag hunting, pre-ban)? Or is it also slaughtering animals for food, footware, e.t.c that you don't like?

Personally I am not opposed to the HUMANE destruction of a problem animal/bird and if the hunter derives great pleasure in his pursuit of the problem creatures then so be it however I certainly cannot comprehend the hunting of any creature with a pack of hungry hounds. The deer of this country can be kept in check by allowing marksmen to cull the herds; surely this is a far more humane method of control than the now illegal hunting with hounds. This is also true of foxhunting, where a true shot is clearly the most humane method of control

They are already out there and willing to pay the landowner good money for the privilege so here is an opportunity for you to diversify
