Maybe a daft question but I just want to hear other people's experiences. Can a mare sense a stallion is about even if she can't see him and can this affect her overall behaviour, even when she's away from the yard?
My mare is at livery on a yard which brings on young showjumpers and, in the last year, occasionally has had stallions arrive. There are three there right now. I have never noticed her behaving any differently from how she was before, even when she is in season. The stallions are kept in a separate section but she can hear and smell them and see them led out but she just seems to ignore them.
