I have just moved my horses to a better building on the yard I'm on. Before they were just the two of them on their own, so every time I took the pony out for work, the TB went mental. They are now in a building with another four horses, so six altogether. The TB has settled straightaway and seems so much happier, however the pony tonight heard the farmer doing some welding at the end of the barn, which he does regularly. The other horses were fine, after having an initial jump and my TB didn't even stop eating her hay. Pony on the other hand went totally ballistic - out of control in her stable. Had I not had a grill up she would have come over the door (she has a grill up as she has jumped the door previously). I realise that in time she will get used to the noise, especially as the other horses are so calm, but in the meantime I need to change the grill because it isn't secure as the farmer, when making some brackets for it, broke it......so rather than get another grill, I've read that stallion bars would be useful. Does anyone have any photos of them as I'm not sure what they actually look like. I've read about how to make them, but still can't picture them My other thought is to get two sets of slip rails above the bottom door so that I can put them across when necessary, but they won't be as obstructive as a full grill and I can just slide them out when not in use. Help please!!
