Hi wonder if anyone can advise me?
Near where I keep my mares a guy has a minature shetland stallion, he got out of his field this morning and went into next doors field with their horses. The owner of stallion arrived shoved him back in his own field and left. When i went to bring my 2 up to the yard for their feed, i noticed the horses in the next field (seperate yard)were quite unsettled but i put it down to they had gone onto the summer grazing today so didnt take much notice (i didnt know about the stallion already being in with them earlier).
Whilst I was talking to my YO all hell broke loose the stallion was in next doors field and being chased around all the horses were going potty, so stallion runs straight at the fence (hedge) and pushes through into our field, I thought he was going to die at one point a 17hh ID had him in his mouth!! Hooves were flying and it was chaos he was being chased by all the horses in our field. Ive never seen such agression in our little herd of horses. Eventually he just ran at the hedge and forced his way through and into next door then shot up the field and went back to his own field.
After some calls his owner arrived and have shut him up I dont know if he was injured or not.
So what i wanted to know is do stallion owners have any regulations or duty of care regarding fencing etc? What happens if one of our horses are injured because of this pony? Who would you report it to?
