Hi

further to my rant in Soapbox, I wondered if there is any law or regulation about the fencing needed for a Stallion? It's not being used for stud, however it knows what it's 'thing' is for, and therefore calling to the mares and winding them up.

thanks
Bx

Where I live over here in the "Wild West", apparently there is a Bylaw whereby stallions fields have to be 2 gates away from a public road. Apart from that, no there are no regulations on how they are kept.

What I found was that my stallion was not the trouble-maker; it was all the tarty mares who were the problem!

Zeus's field is right on the side of the road, OK unpaved very rural concession, but still a public road. Stock fenced and post and railed, and there is hot wire around it too!
I haven't got a single field that is two gates away from the road.

*scuttles off to google stallion bylaws*

I doubt this will be a law everywhere in Ontario, but it is in my Municipality. Best check just to make sure you don't get into trouble.
