Hi! So I have been searching for a horse that is out of the same dam as my lad as he's super and I have found another. The only diiference this time is that he is not out of the same sire (touchdown) , this guy is out of Vechta. I have only just heard of him.if you could give me any info on the stallion himself like what level he jumped to that would be great!! I also really want to know about what his progeny is like (temperament and confirmation wise) and in particular their jumping ability!! Any help is much appreciated :)

Vechta jumped at GP level under Will Funnell (had a fair few Nations Cup appearances IIRC).

I've only dealt with one Vechta youngster, out of an Oldenberg mare. He was a lovely chap, really straightforward but plenty of talent. He was bought by an young event rider and is out doing JRN's and jumping 1.15/Fox BS over the winter.

I'm sure there would be info on Vechta on the Billy stud page, or Moreland stud I think is the other one. He didn't stand as a stallion for terribly long as he died in 2010, but he certainly sired a few class horses in that time :)

ETA I'd repost in Breeding as I think that there are a few people with offspring.

From a temperament perspective, all my breeding friends give the same advise - look to the mare. She was the one to instill his education at an early age. Obviously there are always exceptions, but this is a really good guide, and as you've had another from the same dam line then you should have a good idea of what this one will turn out like.

Yeah your right my lad is by touchdown and they are famous for being feisty but I always go be the rule 80% dam 20% dam so I'm really not sure whether it is the dam or not I'm also thinking the sme about jumping ability!

Iv a 5yr old mare by vechta.. Gorgous looker 17.or17.1 hh. Great jump lives work and beingn the middle of things loves going jumping and all things good like shoeing .loading. Comes to you in field just call her and shake that bridle and shes mad to get tacked up. Shes brave and forward going . Big jump and very
confident . I think the vechtas off spring are great.
