Hi all,
I looking for a stallion to use on my mare next year, baby to be a sj wh type hopefully!

About her
* 17hh MW ISH by White Clover.
* Slightly long in her back.
* Can be sharp at times.
* Moves well but could do with some omph.
* Very good front end but could do with a bigger bum!

So I need
* Very good temperament
* Compact plus good back end
* good action, I like lift from the knee
* He has to be on the small side (I know but I would like to reduce the chance of a 18.2 elephant!

)
* Not full TB
* I'm not a millionaire so £750 max
* Not grey
* AI only

Any ideas?

I would say my small stallion would do all of those things but sadly he is TB although doesnt look it.
What about Teffy's little stallion CVS Hot business

My vet recommended I went with a pure bred stallion for my ISH, as he said otherwise you get such a random mix of genes you could anything from a cob up.
Just a thought.

Why not ecplore using a New Forest or Connie stallion. Both breeds have bags of jumping ability, will ensure you don't get a monster and improve the conformation & temperament?

New Forest stallions are used a lot on the continent to produce top sport ponies/horses.

He he cruiseline!!

SSM, I have to say i'm not a Cleveland Bay fan, sorry I'll go and hide now!

Fleur, I have been thinking about a connie but the two I like are both grey, my mare is down as grey on her passport but she is nearly black in person.

The filly foal she has at the moment, by a black and white stallion, is a rich dark chocolate colour with a few white hairs (not quite a star) on her face and small socks behind. Her first foal was a grey colt.

What about using a Connemara stallion - pretty much sure to result in a smaller foal, usually have good action and backends.

Edenwood's Dark Stranger is a nice sort and producing WH types. We're looking as Ashfield Village this year too he's graded SPSS & is BSJA silver disc.

Or for a Newfie Fabian looks good and is relatively cheap (stands at Meadow Stud)

if you want lift from the knee id suggest my aunties friesian stallion, Xrated graded star stallion in the FPS inspections in dublin.
his temperment is immence, hes not too big 16.2hh, hes got a good backend, and hes very versitile for a friesian,

maybe a friesian isnt wat your looking for but have a look at their website... www.loughshorestud.com

Hi, dtd he is lovely, I have a soft spot for Friesian's, but not right for my mare.

Thanks to all for your comments and pm's. I now have a list and will have to spend a few days visiting possible husbands!!
