My awful neighbours have now put a stallion in their paddock. The fencing between their paddock and the adjoining ones is only sheepnetting and both me and the girl the other side of them have mares.
Stallion seems reasonably well behaved to be fair but am still a bit concerned.
Is there any regulations or at least BHS recommendations or anything like that for suitable fencing for stallions?
I get the impression the stallion has only been 'borrowed' to cover one of their mares so hopefully it'll be gone soon!

No idea about regulations but should be easy enough to google if no one on here can advise but.....wow! how massively irresponsible of them. I'd lock my girlie in out of the way until he'd disappeared.

if its their property then they can put in whatever they want i'm afraid!. if keeping your lady in isn't an option then i suggest electric fencing asap and quite tall! if their place is not actually their own but rented then maybe approach the landlord as no. 1 Sheep wire is completely unsuitable for horses and no 2 landlord would be responsible for appropriate fencing and maintaining said fencing!

There isn't any laws as far as I know, however if their horse escaped, the owner would be liable for any damage/injury caused and visa versa with your horse, obviously you want to prevent this from happening.

As far as the fencing is concerned that is the responsibility of the owner of the boundary, which could be you or them so you need to check with land registry.

Unfortunately because you keep animals in your paddock has well as them, it is also your responsibility that the fencing be suitable to keep your horse in as well as their responsibility its good enough to keep their horse in. If there isn't good relations between you whereas you can discuss strengthning the fencing, I would do as amage says and put electric fencing up on your side as tall as possible.

i have welfare guide lines and there are no idercations that they have to be keeped in ant type of fencing but if the horse strays onto your property the owner is liable for damages
the owner of the land may capture and is entitled to charge the owner the costs of doing so before the horse is returned

Could you have a freindly word with the owner of the stallion and agree to share costs of erecting secure fencing.
