Stallion kicks woman to death

My initial thoughts are

Cause of death is not yet established, yet the headline says *patient was kicked and mauled to death* and the horse referred to as vicious.

The horse is *said to have launched at the woman as she walked through the field*

Yet the *mauled body is believed to have been found five hours after the brutal attack with the horse still standing over her.*

So nobody saw the attack and she was found hours later. Speculation as to the chain of events. The Police are still trying to establish what happened using cctv.

I dont yet know, and they dont yet know, if the horse killed her, or trampled and kicked the woman's already dead body in the field, after she died of an unrelated reason.

eta: Poor horse if it didnt kill the woman and gets shot anyway.

"According to The Sun the horse belongs to gypsies, It is said to have launched at the woman as she walked through the field."

and they know this because.????? thought she was found hours later, what proof do they have or are they asuming? its possible the woman could have had a heart attack or something and the horse could have been playing with her after she collasped, as some do with rugs if they are on the ground in the field as my litttle monster does :-/
or am i being stupid

That is my guess too.

Just what I was going to post. Also, good 'witnesses' if they did nothing to alert the emergency services as they watched the horse launch itself.

Sun speculation and rubbish reporting as usual.

I dont get it. At the end of the day if this stallion had in fact been a bull, would there still be grounds to put it down?! A local farmer was killed not that long ago round here by a cow with its calf, apparently they can turn very protective and dangerous during calving time - yet of course we wouldnt expect to put those down...

I suspect there was some evidence to suggest the stallion DID kill the woman - they've taken DNA samples from the horse to match with the wounds and there WILL be a post mortem. There was NO suggestion in the article that the horse was going to be put down - at least in the short term - though if he's a gypsy stallion, dumped in a field that belonged to someone else, and HAS a bad temperament then frankly that would be the best outcome!

I was tickled by the bit that said something along the lines of 'stallions can be vicious if they're not castrated'!! If it's a stallion, it obviously HASN'T been castrated!

I just dont see why the animal might be put down at all. If a strange person walks into a stallions field, who knows how it'll react especially when we have no idea what she was doing at the time, she could have been chasing after it with a stick! Most people wouldnt hop into a field with a bull because its pretty risky. Its just a shame that its not obvious to non-horsey people which horses are stallions I guess.

The comments underneath the article are laughable.

They're dangerous those Stallions... they sit in their fields premeditating attacks on random hospital patients. (rollseyes)

For goodness sake! She was probably trespassing anyway - not that it's not very sad that she's been killed but unless the stallion can provide an alleby or explanation then they'll jump to conclusions. Joy!

Tried to leave a comment on DM page but I refuse to register so can't :(

They have 'juiced' up the headline to sell the story. I think it's a disgrace when they don't even no the stallion is responsible.

Poor horse!

This is definitely a case of the media adding bits to make the story more interesting. My particular favourite bit was in The Sun where it said the horse had to be tranquillised so the emergency services could remove the body. That's not quite true. But hey ho, it might sell more papers.
