Is it worth a blood test/ovary scan? Seasons are very regular, very noticeable and if there is a gelding around and she is anywhere near it, particularly a young one, she absolutely loses her head-spins, screams and then gets herself into a right state to the point that she’s won’t eat and just paces around. Even if she is in between seasons, a gelding can trigger her off again almost instantly.
She does appear to have had a foal previously.

It’s not a major issue, as she is out with a mare, but does mean that I would probably have to rule out having any geldings in the future. Bit of a situation this weekend as her field mate is on box rest, so we had to put her near a gelding instead (separate paddock) and she has turned into a complete sex pest and exhibiting very stallion-like behaviour which is making handling her a bit difficult and not helping with keeping Diva, her next door neighbour, quiet while she is on lami box rest.

Has anyone had a mare like this and did you have any luck with regumate?

Not mine, but I know someone who had a mare that started to have stallion like behaviour and it turned out she had a cyst on an ovary the size of a grapefruit. cyst removed and horse returned to normal.

Thanks. Vet is due out this week for Diva so think I’ll ask them about getting Polly checked out. Will put my mind at rest anyway.
