Is it worth a blood test/ovary scan? Seasons are very regular, very noticeable and if there is a gelding around and she is anywhere near it, particularly a young one, she absolutely loses her head-spins, screams and then gets herself into a right state to the point that shes wont eat and just paces around. Even if she is in between seasons, a gelding can trigger her off again almost instantly.
She does appear to have had a foal previously.
Its not a major issue, as she is out with a mare, but does mean that I would probably have to rule out having any geldings in the future. Bit of a situation this weekend as her field mate is on box rest, so we had to put her near a gelding instead (separate paddock) and she has turned into a complete sex pest and exhibiting very stallion-like behaviour which is making handling her a bit difficult and not helping with keeping Diva, her next door neighbour, quiet while she is on lami box rest.
Has anyone had a mare like this and did you have any luck with regumate?
