Does anyone have or know if its possible to have a covering stallion and he also to be a quite riding horse or are they all kept isolated ??

lol, my RID stallion Lady's Tralee Raj fitted the bill! He was stabled alongside others (geldings) and hacked out as lead horse. Te only embarrassing thing was if you passed a property with a mare in season - even if she was several fieds from the road - he would tap repeatedly on the bottom of my boot! My current stallion isn't quite as good - he hacks out alone - and when all the mares are lined up at the fence begging for it, it becomes 'interesting' (terrifying!) But he's a young boy - he MAY improve.

What a strange question, you only have to go to a show, dressage comp, event etc. to see stallions being ridden, they may not all be covering mares but many will, a lot will travel with mares in the same lorry, they are not and should not be isolated but do need treating with respect and experience.

Ours is and has done everything. I even lent him to someone for a riding camp as their mount was poorly. They need treating with care and experience helps - as with all horses !

I am now in my 60's and am no longer the brave confident rider I once was. I rode my 16.3hh ClevelandBay stallion just after he was backed. I have a Shagya stallion, whom I ride, regularly, at the age of 6 he completed 40km,60km and 3x90km endurance with mares other stallions and geldings. He now jumps and last year some-one actually crashed into him in the warm-up arena, he is as good as gold. I can cover mares in hand with him or run him at liberty with a mare.

My mini stallion is with my gelding 24/7 beside mares, drives and shows alone with no issues. He is treated just like a horse, with an extra little bit of care given with proximity to strange horses.

My stallion is fine ridden around mares and geldings. He's always been ridden and handled like any other horse and has 24/7 turnout so is never full of beans. He can be 'interesting' out hacking if he meets a mare who is in season going the opposite way but usually an 'oi!' Stops him. He doesn't cover, though he does live out in a mixed herd so I can't comment on an actively covering standpoint. One thing to add though is my boy is extremely polite at all times due to always being handled like any other horse. One that has been institutionalised as a stallion may be quite different.
