I've moved Stan onto a mainly raw diet, having bought a ready made puppy raw mix, which he wouldn't touch, i've been making my own mix of raw meat, sweet potato + kibble. He loves it and everything seems normal (if you get my drift). He's not had bones though and I have been concerned about his calcium intake so have been adding calcium to his meals but have been plucking up courage to start giving him bones. he had his first chicken wing this evening and loved it. There was lots of crunching and cracking and he seemed absolutely fine with it. this is all very new to me but seeing him tackling a bone has convinced me it's the right way to go. Any further advice would be welcomed.

Mine love ribs. They get a fair amount of wings/drumsticks/quartered chickens. They also get recreational bones to knaw on. They are dainty little whippets, not sure I'd do this with something with a big jaw though! Mine love a whole frozen ox heart as well.

I go to Morrisons once a month and wipe them out of heart, get a tiny bit of liver, loads of chicken portions and all the bones I can find.

I bought an ox kidney today, carefully chopped it up to freeze in batches (very cheap) gave Stanley a tiny portion and he wouldn't touch it. I must have the fussiest terrrier ever! any tips on how to introduce new tastes, if there's something he doesn't like he'll leave everything!

Mine eat a range of things but liver is a no with the exception of chicken liver very occasionally. Kidney is tolerable in tiny amounts, venison and gamey things are eaten under sufferance. I can sneak small amounts of liver in if its in a mince, so tripe and liver or chicken and kidney etc. That is a good way to introduce them then you can build up to more and on its own.

I'm mean though and carried out a proper stand off with the big dog initially and will do it again if they start being too picky. Now there is two of them greed usually makes them eat!

That's really useful to know. TBH I do find it "just" a bit stressful if the pup isn't eating but then again, it's diffficult to know how much he should be eating. He's putting on weight , seems happy etc but sometimes just says "no" I'm not eating that and goes into a sulk (but he is a BT). I bought some goats milk today and in desperation gave him some oatmeal soaked in it, he ate the lot with relish so at least he got some calcium!

You can mix the goats milk with mince etc if he likes the taste and texture. Its my go to if mine arent well and are off their food for any reason. When Floyd was a puppy we fed him 4 times a day, enough that he would still eat more if offered but wasnt on the scrounge looking hungry. Mine are both huge pigs though!

I bought some goat milk yesterday as I was concerned about his calcium intake and he does like it, so thanks for the tip.

Fingernail size kidney or liver, smother in natural bio yoghurt. Brig hates offal, but will automatically swallow if I throw it at him as a treat, particularly with the dustbin (Bear) standing next to him. Go really slowly with offal anyway or expect a poo explosion.
