Stanley has been treated with two doses of Fibroclear, a month apart, last one given on 21st August. He is a bit itchy and we have have found some fleas on him. I'm pretty sure he came with an infestation, our previous dogs never had fleas and all his bedding has been washed etc. I'm really surprised that the Fibroclear hasn't solved the problem. He's not due for his next flea treatment until 18th Sept any advice please. We are using a flea comb to remove the little critters!

At least your oh didn't come home covered in fleas! mine did on Friday he and a colleague went to look at a house they had just bought with some contractors and all of them were covered in them, they used the household spray on themselves then I washed all his clothes as soon as he came in, his just called me and they now have an infested office so they are having it treated today but the lot of them have been eaten alive they are horrible bloody things:(

did the vet sell it to you? I would go to vet, explain what you've given him and ask for a different preparation -wash all bedding etc and treat the house.

No, bought from Countrywide. i went in for Advantage but was told Fiproclear was the same but cheaper. It isn't as it doesn't deal with flea larvae. I've been advised to wait a week then dose with Advantage. I've given Stan a bath, changed all the bedding etc. Luckily we have hard floors pretty much everywhere that Stanley goes. Stan didn't make much of a fuss when he was bathed and he fits in the kitchen sink so it was pretty easy. Having had a walk off the lead (he was brilliant) and a bath he is flat out!

Indorex to treat the house and all soft furnishings! The little blighters can live down behind your skirting boards and anywhere there is a gap in your wooden floors. Also, curtains, cushions, sofas etc. Not fun.

Bloody crap advice - I would be having a moan at them the SQP should know better!

Fiproclear is Fipronil same active as Frontline and there has been resistance against it in the flea population, it's handy for ticks though..

Advantage is Imidacloprid and is active against adult fleas and larvae.

The problem with fleas is the pupal stage, the bloody things survive anything you throw at them when they are in this stage....I would be hitting the house with Indorex or that pink Johnson's stuff is quite effective too, spray under furniture and along skirtings ...wash bedding at 65 degrees and hoover. hoover, hoover...the vibration of the vac gets the pupal stage hatching - you will also keep fit!!

Good luck fleas are little bar stewards!!

Go get something more effective to use ideally from the vet so it'll actually work.
fibronil is failing a lot in the last few years and isnt a good choice for an infestation.

Advantage
Comfortis
Advocate
Revolution
Bravecto
Nexgard
Advantix(if you dont have cats)

Dont forget to treat the other animals hes come in contact with as well...if hes still got them after 2 months of treatment you likely have a problem in the house and environment so all the animals present will have been exposed.

Indorex the house.hover all over esp the nooks and crannies along the walls and under furniture(cat flea collar in the hoovers also usually recommended to kill the ones that end up in the bag so they dont crawl back out) wash all beddings at 90 degrees and repeat all but the chemical stuff again in 3 weeks to break the cycle.
Fleas are an absolute ****** to get rid of once they get estanlished in a house! Be glad you have no carpet!

Oh and keep on eye out or treat for tapeworm in the next while.fleas carry tapeworm. Horrible creatures that they are.
