Some of you might remember i was in a panic last week because Star had a huge lump on her neck - well it's nearly all gone now and we've been to the vets for test results and there is definitely no cancer/tumor *few* and she can come off her anti-biotics now and she should be all better!

As for winter walking - what do you do if you have to walk your dogs in the dark/dusk?? i.e. on/off lead??, do you keep to the road etc.??

It's my first winter with dogs and work! Can't believe how dark it is!!

Yay, thats great news, must be a huge relief for you.

I'm lucky and can walk my dog in the fields so no need to worry about cars etc when it is dark. We used to have clip on pushbike lights that we would put on the dogs collars whilst down the yard in the early mornings, these worked great

yay thats great news

we take a torch and the dogs have little glowy collars, batteryoperated but look a bit liek glow sticks lol

we try to stick to the fields though

I walk around where I live so along roads (on footpaths) so always on the lead and had a reflective collar, but going to get her a light up one as well. He coat also has reflective strips on it. Although there are street lights so lucky in that respect

I stick to the fields in the dark and JR wears a LCD flashing tag on his collar, so I can see him disappearing over the horizon!!!**Joke** He is very well behaved, so I know he will come when called, otherwise I would stick to the roads and keep him on a lead when it wa getting dark.

Sometimes we go jogging, sometimes it's just a walk round the streets, but mostly I take her to the little dog playground a minute from my apartment, so that she can play with her ball and run around a bit. It's small (150 x 50) and concrete, but I'd rather not chance walking in the parks at night

Glad to hear the lump was nothing serious.
I'm lucky in that i go home to work at about 11, so I normally take him out at about lunchtime - work permitting. So he gets a good run around the fields then and then after work he gets another walk but because it's dark we stick to the roads where it's well lit. Which is very good for his claws anyway!

Glad to hear Star is on the road to recovery.
You can buy all sorts of light up gagets on e-bay just type in dog collar and you would be surprised what's out there!
Personally, I am terrified of the teens in this area, so try not to walk my dogs after dark. We have a small fenced garden and once it get's dark they go out there and we pooperscoop.

I never used to be afraid of anyone, and usually my Amrican accent works on these kids, they think I must know Johnny Depp personally or something, but not all are so friendly.
If I have to go out after dark I take Bently the ?Goofound as he is big and strong looking, not at all like a greyhound just huge...like he's on steroids and that usually makes them cross the street, especially sense he smiles at everyone and most people think he's about to go for their throats (NOT!).
But would never walk with just salukis after dark. I treasure them too much to put them in any kind of danger and if something happens to me, they might get loose and get hit...oh boy can I get paranoided or what (as my old friend from Morocco used to say!
Love ya
Suzi
