Thanks to those who advised on the best method of retraining my former hurdle/Ptp mare.
She has settled in very well and is enjoying her whole days in the field so much that she is not keen on going back in the box at night!
She has been slow to warm to the hay after being on sweet hayledge.
She ate very little hay the first few days but is gradually taking in more hay and she is grazing on the grass a lot more today. In terms of hard feed she is on three feeds a day down from her racing four with around 2.5kg of pony nuts and pasture mix being fed per day.
I will try and get some pictures on tomorrow as she is an absolute picture to look at and has a very sweet temperament.

Excellent..sounds like all is going well...
The grass coming through will do her the world of good too.
Glad another tb owner is doing well!!!
Looking forward to some piccies of her.

oh good i am glad she is doing so well!!! I find everyday with my ex racer a reward as there is always improvement!! good luck the grass will help no end keep us updated!!

Hi Matt, can't wait to see the pics!

As posted previously the link the national ex-racers club is www.exracersclub.com, it covers the whole of the UK and has lots going on from parades to clinics, demos and lots of shows. It has an annual championship show in the Midlands and the first Scottish Championships is taking place at Blair Horse trials.

The forum is very busy and you'll find a wealth of experience on it.

Good luck and keep up the good work!
