Started to eat straw...

Over the last few days my pony has started to eat his straw. We moved yards 2 weeks ago and the hay and straw is made on site. He has never eaten straw before and gets given a large haynet and lots of hay on the floor. When i come down in the morning he has hay left but eaten the banks!
What can i put on it to stop him eating it? We can't change him onto shavings because he gets itchy and the yard will not allow paper.

i would try diluting some jeyes fluid + spray it over the bed, it tastes awful so he shouldnt want 2 eat it then!! lol

Perhaps he doesn't like the hay

What sort of straw is it? Unless he eats a whole bed it probably won't do him any harm.

Hi, i was worried about using jeyes incase i dont dilute it enough.
He liked the hay to start with and it is better quality than the hay we had at the old yard, and actually so is the straw

He is a fussy monster though

As long as the jeyes fluid is diluted , It wont do your pony any harm .

Lady at our yard does the same for her little horse , she likes to eat it and since shes used JF , she hasnt touched it .

i just to use vinger and euolyptus oil on my bed!
