How can I start riding my little mare bitless as I am worried she didn't happy. Would a headcollar with the leadrope in each side ring work. Was planning on putting a head collar in over bridle so I could grab the tied up reins if she shot off. She likes to shoot off with me.
 
You can try a head collar. Have you got a dually? That would be better than just a normal headcollar.

However I think you'd be better off getting a "real" Bitless bridle and going from there.

You need to do groundwork with them to ensure the horse understands what you want before you ride with the bridle on.

Thank you. I'm actually now thinking about a micklem bridle so if that doesn't help it can be used as a bit less bridle too

Thank you. I'm actually now thinking about a micklem bridle so if that doesn't help it can be used as a bit less bridle too
 
A headcollar with reins on would give you an idea of how she goes without a bit, over a bridle would be a good idea so you can grab the reins from the bit of you need to.
A headcollar is similar to a sidepull, so you can get an idea if your horse would like a sidepull or if they need another type of bridle. :)
 
Mine goes best in a headcollar as she found the Dr Cook confusing. Start in the school/enclosed area so she can't go very far if she gets confused or decides to ignore.
